A family album

Image

Well, despite the obvious focus on photography, I am as guilt as the next person of never actually printing and displaying my own! Hundreds of gigabytes later, I have finally made a project of printing and framing some for our family wall. This comes at the perfect time, as I celebrate my 33rd birthday and take stock of where I have been and what is to come. It is a blessed life and a beautiful one, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

First look: The reign of Princess Emma

Lovely

Happy Carnival! In the US we call this Mardi Gras and it is a booze fueled bead-fest decidedly not for kids. Here in Brussels and beyond, everyone gets in on the action including dressing up in school and checking out the parades. If you are looking to get your festivities on check out this link.

I the spirit of festivity, I wanted to share a very special little girl’s photo session today. Definitely in line with my current love of KIDS. Beautiful, fun and full of energy, we had a great time in the studio last week and the results are lovely to behold. All hail princess Emma!

On the passage of time: First look maternity and newborn with Amanda, Herbert and Dunkin

The new

It is sometimes the case that the passage of time seems to slow (stop?) in these long dark days of February. As we cuddle up inside, I look for evidence that time is in fact moving on. Nothing tells the story of progress, bright future and all that is right with the world than a new family in the making and the excitement of a new little person discovering the world.

This morning I share the story of a beautiful couple who welcomed their first son on New Years Day. We met first in the fall for a maternity photo session in the Botanical Gardens in Meise. Impossible to go wrong with fall leaves and a castle as the backdrop.

We met again in early January for beautiful newborn session with one of the most well behaved young gentlemen I have had the pleasure to meet.

Please accept this proof that warm days, picnics, strawberries and peaches are in fact on their way.

First look: Helen, Emma and Marco family/maternity session

Ta da!

How do you make the best out of an hour? Combine a maternity and family session in one! Time flew by as we captured the joy of this beautiful, growing family. Little Emma was the star of the show but we still made time to take some beautiful belly shots with Helen, Marco and the soon to debut Julia. I am lucky to work with such lovely families.

My longest hiatus yet but a busy one. Lots of life going on over here. Have been working hard, lots of shoots, a surprise trip to the US, chicken pox and a devastating blow of losing our godson, Matthias.  It has been a transformative time.

Soon to return to our regularly scheduled programming but first wanted to say a few words on little Matthias. Although he was only with us for 15 months, he had a tremendous smile that lit up the room. He was a wonderful spirit and we are all lucky to have known him. Born with a severe heart defect, through many surgeries and love and support of his parents, he just didn’t quite make it. We miss you Matthias.

First look: Maiken and Johanna + Happy Birthday to me!

Happy days

When Mailken told me she wanted to have a special shoot of her and her beautiful daughter to surprise her husband on their anniversary I thought “Fantastic idea!”. Lucky for me they turned out to be a charming and photogenic duo. It was terribly  hard to wait until the gift was given but I can now happily share a few choice shots with you.
